Headline for iPad, v0.1 ready and waiting!

02 Apr 2010

Over the last couple of months we have been working to produce an App worthy of Apple’s latest invention, the iPad. What we have come up with is Headline – a slick, feature-rich RSS reader which lets you do more than just read your latest RSS articles. With Headline you can manage multiple accounts, search your articles, easily add new feeds, share via email, browse in full screen, instantly preview articles, and much more. A teaser screen shot is shown below, but to seem more head over to our (temporary!) Headline App Page

Headline is currently under review by Apple, but we hope to be there for the launch of the App store in the next couple of days.

Well, the iPad is here. Almost.

So yesterday saw the long awaited unveiling of the Apple iPad. Initial industry reaction seems to be slightly on the negative side, with people apparently expecting something more inline with the revolution brought by the first iPhone, rather than just an ‘iPhone on steroids’. I’m yet to understand quite what it was they’ve been left wanting… multitasking would have been nice though.

I think the iPad has plenty of potential, although perhaps as more of a home/office device than a truly portable one. I predict it will follow the Apple trend and become a favourite piece of kit for people to do anything from playing games to organising their life – and Swipe Interactive will certainly aim to be among the first to get an App out there worthy of the enormous effort that Apple have put into the iPad.

The NDA is still covering the app development side of the iPad, and with an actual release date of 60 days’ time I can’t see it being dropped any time soon, but still – watch this space for our upcoming creations!
